Back to School!

Yeah!!!! They went back to school today. Not that I don't enjoy them but I didn't think I could take one more day of solid WII playing. We all took it easy during the ice/snow days. One mother said tonight that snow days aren't so bad when you can send then kids out in the snow to play! But this ice wasn't fun!

We had ball games tonight. We won and Jessi got to play. The boys were ahead by 20 at the end of the first quarter so we headed home.
That's about all that's going on at the Beebe house. Love the snow angel Cade!

Jenni's 7th Birthday Party

opening Grandma Kathi's card:
this is why Jenni LOVES birthday cards:opening Grandma Kathi's gift:
"who is this girl & why is she laughing at my man-purse?"

my ovarian-honing device works again!

So we return from a fun day trip to Enid for Jenni's 7th birthday, and this a picture of our kitchen island 5 minutes after I walked in the door.
Apparently Chad had been searching for the batteries that I purchased at Target the day before. They had been in a Target bag on this same island the night before, but I guess I put the other stuff & that bag away. He asked me about the batteries just after we got home, and I pointed them out. He was furious about it. He accused me of moving them there; that's right...in the middle of corralling Cade into the house, greeting my excited puppy under my feet, balancing 15 pounds of purse/diaper/fast food baggage as I walk in the door, out of some evil conspiracy I move the batteries out of hiding into broad daylight...just for fun.

so, women, let's try a "Where's Waldo" type experiment... see if the men in your life can find the batteries in the picture! :)

what do you think?

So I noticed a spotlight glaring into our living room the other night. As you know, our neighborhood is a slight bowl shape around the lake, so our behind-neighbors are elevated from us; good that our view is our fence & their roofline not looking down into their windows...bad when they decide to replace their traditional back porch light with a spotlight. :)

the good news is that our neighbors asked us if it was bothering us, and I have noticed they seem to be angled down more now. Maybe they went & talked to them. Whew...the early spring back porch barbecues around the fireplace are back on!

OKC Zoo

We enjoyed the gorgeous day last weekend at the zoo. Cade was more interested in all the animal statutes, but we did get to see the gorillas wrestling & playing.

and no, we didn't risk Cade's life for this photo-op...that is Chad squatting in the back. :)

Chesapeake Christmas

If you are ever in the city after dark at Christmastime, you should drive by Chesapeake between I-44 & NW 63rd on Western. I took a camera-phone picture as we were driving through & just downloaded to my computer so I thought I'd share.

The U.S. State Department provides international travel information on their website.

Let me share some quotes from their general country-specific information regarding India:
http://travel.state.gov/travel/cis_pa_tw/cis/cis_1139.html

"There is a high threat from terrorism throughout India and terror attacks are a serious and growing threat to U.S. citizens traveling and resident there. U.S. citizens are urged to always practice good security, including maintaining a heightened situational awareness and a low profile."

"U.S. citizens, particularly women, are cautioned not to travel alone in India. Western women continue to report incidents of physical harassment by groups of men." You can read what it goes on to say about this one; I won't post here.

"Women should observe stringent security precautions, including avoiding using public transport after dark without the company of known and trustworthy companions."

You can also view all the U.S. State Department's Travel Warnings ("issued when the State Department decides, based on all relevant information, to recommend that Americans avoid travel to a certain country") and Alerts ("means to disseminate information about terrorist threats and other relatively short-term and/or trans-national conditions posing significant risks to the security of American travelers").

They issued a Travel Warning for India on December 24, 2008.

I figured it out!

I figured out where Tim is taking me for my birthday! I had been asking questions everyday since Christmas. Tim promised not to lie so some times he was evasive with his questions. I had confirmed it was not a cruise and not in the state of Florida. He assured me it was in the lower 48 states and I did not need a passport.

Friday night I was sitting at the computer and the kids were playing price is right wii game. Jake was bidding on a showcase that was describing a week stay in Napa valley. First time I had thought of that one. I went in to the bedroom and Tim was asleep. I thought good he'll be a little droggy and maybe I can get more info if I wake him up. I asked if we were going to Napa Valley and he said no. I asked if there were wineries around and he said maybe. So I was a little bummed because I have always wanted to go there and I thought what a perfect trip. But he had promised not to lie so I came back out to the computer. About 10 minutes later I heard him coming through the kitchen and I figured he was just coming out to spend some time with the boys playing wii. He had two books in his hand and he said "I promised not to lie. We are going to Napa Valley for your birthday." I immediately started jumping up and down like a child getting a new puppy. He got on the internet and showed me where we are staying in Calistoga which is in northern Napa Valley.

He was a little sad that I figured it out so soon but now we can do research together to decide where we want to go.

Kimi I noticed you had some pics from there on your website. Any suggestions would be great!

Mom I know you never plan too far in advance but I would love it if you would come stay with my kids. We are leaving on the 3rd of May and will be back the 9th I think. I am already working a couple of other angles so no pressure. I just think this would be memorable for the kids too. They usually have field trips this time of year and you could go with them. These are the kinds of things that make awesome memories! Just think about it. I wasn't sure when you left to go back to India in the summer.

Anyway now I'm super excited! Can't wait for May!!!!!!
