My New Life Philosophy!

'Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways - Chardonnay in one hand - chocolate in the other - body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming 'WOO HOO!! What a ride!!

Saw this in a forward email and loved it. If anyone ever sees who wrote it let me know!

Woo Hoo!!

Camping Fun!

Sunday night we decided to head over to the pretty pond on the 50 acres and put the tent up and spend the night.

It was beautiful. No wind and a nice cool evening. Jake, Jessi and Jenni fished and Josh played his DS while laying on the cot in the tent. Different strokes for different folks. He said he had a great time.

We grilled hamburgers and hotdogs and build a fire in the fire pit for smores.

We enjoyed a beautiful night under the stars. There was a dog up the road that barked till late in the night and the bull frogs were active most of the night but I did enjoy the experience.

We got up this morning at 6:00 and Jake and I headed for the fishing poles. We caught four really nice catfish. But as quickly as they started biting they quit.

We broke down camp about 10:00 and headed home to clean fish.

Memorial Day weekend

Who knew Meadowlake Park was still SOOO fun?  What a great idea!

What a great surprise!  Cade & Brady ended up over-lapping their visits with Great-Grandma Mim & Great-Grandpa Jay, too!  I don't know if they boys or the Great-Grandparents loved it more.  :)

our Montessori School "this-isn't-a-program" Program

Despite the title, each class did a musical number for the parents before the annual end-of-year picnic.  BTW, why do they put on the calendar an "End-of-Year Picnic" a month in advance, but then 2 days before, post signs that it is actually the "Teacher Appreciation" picnic???  My other suspicion is that they were just trying to get the kids out of there early so teachers could be off early on Friday of an already 3-day-weekend.  Can you blame them?  I mean, they wipe my kid's bottom every day, they certainly deserve it, but give a Mom a chance to get a decent gift!  :)  I digress...

When we arrive, and yes, I made sure we were one of the first parents there, they had the kids' chairs set up in the playground.  I didn't want to sit right at front fearing he wouldn't participate, so we were on about the 3rd picnic-blanket-row.  They did it all just like they should, bringing the older kids out of the classrooms first, etc, etc.  As Cade's class, the "Little Bears", were walking out, we saw Cade saying "Where's MY Mommy & Daddy?"  Remember, this is our VERY FIRST program or event like this, so we had to contain ourselves from not jumping out of the crowd!!!  Finally, he saw us...whew!

They had the "Busy Bees" class perform first.  Cade will graduate into that class on Monday - YEA - potty training, you are sure to follow soon, & I LOVE the teachers in that room.  Then, the "Little Bears" take the stage...  Um, well, all I can say is that we learned it is highly unlikely that Cade will be a stage performer of any kind.  LOL  Hopefully, he won't have the same stage fright on the ball fields!  :)
Do you see the kid with his face buried in the teacher's neck???  That's Cade, & that's how he was their entire song, poor little guy!  LOL

The good thing?  I was crying from watching the first class sing, and thinking "pregnant lady at her kid's first program, not a good idea" and I didn't bring any tissues!  So I guess Cade saved ME from embarrassing myself, too!

Last Day of School 2009

Wow!!!! Can you believe it is already summer! Yikes!!!!

The kids are all ready for school. Aren't they precious! I had to twist a couple of arms to get them to take a picture. (Point for Kimi and Kati) This is the first year I have taken a picture on the last day of school. We always take pictures on the first day. But this way I can see the changes a year brought.

The grade school awards assembly was interesting to say the least. Jenni's class was up first. They started handing out certificates for this and that. Jenni got one for phonics but then nothing else. Every time they would announce an award math, spelling, art, etc.... she would sort of frown. Apparently she thought she should get them all. It was really funny. The last award was for overall best student. Seh got that one! She also received the presidential award signed by President Obama. We are so proud of her. Jenni ended the year with straight A's.

Then Jake and Josh's class were up. Josh received a math, art, and read 25 books awards. He was so cute. We are so proud of him. Josh ended the year with straight A's.

Jake as you can see just stood there with his hands crossed. He did not receive any awards. It broke my heart but the funny story is that morning I asked the kids if they would be getting any awards. Jake said "Only if they give one in gym class" Of course they don't but when I told coach she cracked up. We are so proud of Jake too. He has to work so much harder that the other kids and we were thrilled with his B's and C's on his report card.

Jessi's assembly was a little later. She received awards for reading 25 books, math award, athletic participation award, Student of the Month. We haven't received her report card yet but I'm sure it will be fine. We are really proud of her too!

Still Here

OK so as I think you know we have been working on a new room for Abby. I have been putting pics up on www.blogger.com/stjohnproject.com so if you are interested you can go look. I need new pics but we are on to paint!

I also wanted to let you know that we are planning on camping June 12 to June 15 at Lake Murray. Kimi they have a lodge or cabins http://www.touroklahoma.com/detail.asp?id=1+5U+6446 you can find info at this link.

Baby Ethan update... when they did the ultrasound last time there was an "atypical" scan of the liver. We will be doing another scan in 4 weeks. First off the dr said it was early and possibly nothing. I have done some research on issues with the liver and nothing seems to be serious.

Other than that just feeling pregnant!

Touch-A-Truck

The Edmond Mom's Club sponsored this event to raise money for the Food Bank. Kids were welcome to touch, climb on, pretend to drive, and even honk the horns of all kinds of trucks.

Happy Mother's Day!

Dachshund Dash

We had such a fun time that all FOUR hours passed quickly!  It was a GREAT family-friendly event & was super-easy on the budget, except those darn concession stands.  :)  It cost $1 for all of us to get in, the balloon animals were $1, and we kept our gambling to a minimum, so that only cost us $2 each.  What a deal!  Josh, I'll pick up your T-shirt for winning when they have new ones on June 15th.  Thanks for going with me, guys!
